California bakers refuse to make Pro-Trump birthday cake for nine-year-old boy whose letter to the US president made headlines after he told him ‘I don’t know why people don’t like you’

  • Dylan Harbin, aged nine, wrote to the White House to praise President Trump
  • His letter was read out by Sarah Huckabee Sanders who replaced Sean Spicer
  • In the letter, Dylan, who is known as Pickle, said Trump was his ‘favrite’ president
  • His family now want to travel to the White House and have a tour of the building

California bakers refused to bake a birthday cake in the shape of Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again hat, his mother has revealed.

Dylan Harbin, who is in the third grade of the Elmwood Elementary School in Stockton, California asked his mother SueAnn for a Donald Trump suit for his birthday. When his mother tried to buy a Trump-style cake, she failed to find a baker willing to complete the order.

Instead, she was forced to make her own cake for her son’s birthday.

The nine-year-old schoolboy then wrote to Donald Trump at the White House asking ‘why people don’t like you’.

Introducing himself in the letter as ‘Pickle’, the youngster wrote: ‘I’m 9 years old and you are my favrit [sic] president. I like you so much I had a birthday about you. My cake was the shap [sic] of your hat.’

The letter was read out last month at a press briefing by the new White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

The Washington Post verified that the youngster actually existed.

During the briefing, Sanders said she would regularly read out letters in future from ‘some of the forgotten men, women and children that we’re here to serve’.

In an interview with Fox News, Dylan’s mother said: ‘It was a complete surprise. We were at a Giants game and they had called right before we went in to the stadium and they said, “Hi, this is so and so from the White House and we’re calling to let you know that we received Pickle’s letter and that they’re going to read it at the press conference in about 20 minutes.”‘

She said she was hoping to save up to take her family on a trip from California to tour the White House.
